The Hidden Cameras

"The Day I Left Home" (video)

Joel Gibb is getting back into action this fall with a new album release from his long-running Hidden Cameras project. But before the singer-songwriter drops off Home on Native Land in full, he's teasing the set with a vintage montage piece behind its folky "The Day I Left Home."

The song is a rootsy strummer full of acoustic guitars, drawled vocals and other assorted autumnal tones. Its video was directed by Canadian artist Geoffrey Farmer, who strings together old-school visuals of kids' dress-up parties, the flight paths of bats and air balloons, a fancy ironing session, and at least one tumbling inferno of a stunt person.

You can see the quick and entertaining hodgepodge of clips below, while Hidden Cameras' Home on Native Land is due October 28 via Outside Music. As previously reported, the collection features guest turns from Feist, Mary Margaret O'Hara, Ron Sexsmith, Bahamas, Rufus Wainwright and Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant.
