The 1975's Matty Healy Ate Raw Meat on Stage for Some Reason

Be My Miss Steak

While he has a habit of having a mid-concert cigarette, the 1975 bandleader and known Metallica hater Matty Healy has apparently been craving a little more protein lately.

The band performed at Madison Square Garden last night (November 7) as part of their North American tour behind Being Funny in a Foreign Language, and the singer found himself eating from a sizeable chunk of what appears to be raw red meat while on stage.

Between songs, a shirtless Healy appeared by himself — sans the 9, 7 or 5 — in a set that looked designed to mimic an all-American living room, with an ornamental rug, lamps and a stack of several old TV sets. Seemingly out of nowhere, he whipped out a hefty T-bone steak.

A quaint orchestral theme played in the background as the singer-songwriter took two hearty bites of the meat, which he was still working on chewing as he proceeded to do some push-ups before crawling into one of the TVs. Somebody get this man a glass of milk to wash it down!

This is all probably some sort of commentary on consumerism and masculinity or whatever. "Sorry if you brought your dad to the show and I was touching my dick… that's your fault for bringing your dad," Healy reportedly said of the preceding bit of the act, where he sat on a leather couch while wearing an oxygen mask and having an encounter with his crotch area.

Luckily for everyone, the concert was livestreamed via Amazon Music and will be available for repeat viewings there globally this afternoon at 1 p.m. ET. In the meantime, you can watch the "consumption interlude" go down below, beginning at around the four-minute and 45-second mark.
