October was supposed to be a celebratory time for long-running UK indie pop/punk act Television Personalities, as they have a few reissues lined up for month's end, but things have taken a turn for the worse as frontman Dan Treacy is critically ill and in the hospital over a blood clot.
NME reports the singer is currently in a UK hospital and receiving treatment in intensive care after undergoing major surgery to remove a blood clot on his brain. Treacy has been in an induced coma for the last 48 hours.
With the singer in such a serious state, the rest of the band have issued a statement wishing their bandmate the best, writing, "The band is very much concerned for our dear friend and Brother Daniel at this time, and we are all praying for a recovery."
It's unclear how the blood clot occurred, but it is reportedly due to Treacy sustaining an injury, something police are now investigating.
Treacy started Television Personalities in the late '70s and has remained their only core member in the band's decades-long career. Last year the band issued the new full-length A Memory Is Better Than Nothing.
