SZA

'Ctrl' (album stream)

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Jun 9, 2017

Three years removed from releasing Z, Top Dawg Entertainment songstress SZA has returned with follow-up Ctrl, and the long-awaited record is available to stream right now.

Arriving through TDE today (June 9), the record runs 14 tracks in length and features contributions from SZA's labelmates Kendrick Lamar and Isaiah Rashad, in addition to Travis Scott and James Fauntleroy.

Production credits come from the likes of Terrace Martin, Frank Dukes, ThankGod4Cody, Prophit, Josef Leimberg, Stix, Carter Lang, Cam O'Bi, Bēkon and Antydote.

To some listeners, the three-year wait between and Ctrl have felt like an eternity. Many expected the record to see the light of day last year, though it didn't materialize in a release schedule that saw releases from ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad and TDE newcomer Lance Skiiiwalker.

Towards the end of 2016, SZA seemed to be frustrated with the label's lack of intent to release the record, leading her to tweet, "I actually quit." She later clarified that her working relationship with TDE is just fine.
