Shawn William Clarke Returns with 'William'

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 3, 2014

It's been a few years since Shawn William Clarke broke free from his sideman duties with the likes of Timber Timbre and Olenka and the Autumn Lovers to release the solo album Like Birds Too Tired to Fly. Now, he's ready to release the sophomore album William on September 23.

The album was produced by James Bunton (Diamond Rings, Evening Hymns) at the antiques store Currie's Music and Collectables in Gravenhurst, ON. During the sessions, Bunton apparently made use of the facility's range of classic guitars.

"Currie's was a very inspiring location to record this album," Clarke said in a statement. "The Currie brothers [who own and run the store] make you feel at home and their knowledge and supply of vintage equipment is unparalleled."

At the bottom of the page, you can hear the wistful album opener "Ten Years Ago," which begins with a solemn horn intro before turning into a nostalgic, rustic folk rock ballad.

Also, in support of the new record, Clarke has several Canadian tour dates coming up. You can see those below the tracklist.
