Scissor Sisters

Hurrah: A Year of Ta-Dah

BY Cam LindsayPublished Nov 23, 2007

Though they manage to pull off studio wizardry with their glittery albums, Scissor Sisters are above anything else performers, and witnessing them on stage is the best way to experience their glam extravaganza. Hurrah finds the band in their bright wardrobe serenading an audience of thousands at London’s O2 Arena, playing highlights from their self-titled album and Ta-Dah (the set is also included on a bonus CD as well). Naturally, the English crowd eat right out of the Sisters’ hands, and even with a massive stage to obstruct the intimacy they somehow bring their flamboyance in full, pulling off highlights like "Laura” and disco obscurity "Skins” flawlessly. An additional doc explores the international phenomenon of the band, showing the hundreds of thousands they’ve played to, the horrifically produced fan videos — most of which show people either lip-synching and dancing to "I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’” or trying to sing it ballad-style — the forced television talk show appearances and interviews, and let us not forget the embarrassing cameo on Passions. Wait, please let us forget that. Plus: videos, acoustic gig.
