"Noh-wave" art-rockers Yamantaka // Sonic Titan are one of Toronto's most respected indie exports of the past few years (having been shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize twice), but the band are now undergoing a major personnel change.
Co-founder/lead vocalist Ruby Kato Attwood has left the band, along with guitarist John Ancheta. In their place, Yamantaka // Sonic Titan have added two new members: vocalist Joanna Delos Reyes and guitarist Hiroki Tanaka.
This marks a big change from when the group revolved around the core duo of Kato Attwood and drummer Alaska B. Of course, Alaska B is still a member. That's the new-look lineup above.
This latest incarnation of Yamantaka // Sonic Titan will be pressing ahead by entering the studio this month to record their third LP for Paper Bag Records. They will also be playing a few festivals in the coming months. See the schedule below.
The forthcoming album will be the follow-up to 2013's UZU.
Tour dates:
06/18 Toronto, ON - Lee's Palace (NXNE)
07/11 Toronto, ON - Harbourfront (Party on the Block)
08/28 Montreal, QC - Bar Le Ritz (Passovah Summer Festival)
