Prurient Prepping New Album for Profound Lore

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jan 8, 2014

Prolific darkwave artist Prurient (a.k.a. soundscaper Dominick Fernow) last left us with the three-track Through the Window in 2013, but a new album is apparently on the way via a new label partnership with Profound Lore.

Details on the as-yet-untitled LP are still shaping up, but the Ontario metal imprint confirmed with FACT that new material is in the works. Label owner Chris Bruni gave up some vague details on the record, explaining that Fernow's next release is "different" and "unlike anything that has come before" from Prurient. Fernow has not yet weighed in on what he has in store.

It was added that producer Arthur Rizk (Power Trip) will be handling the work behind the boards.

Of Through the Window, Exclaim! noted that Fernow was "moving towards unclaimed territory" with its mix of dance-y synth melodies, black metal and other sonic touches woven into his noisy compositions.

Prurient has a few U.S. shows lined up for 2014, including some dates opening for Godflesh. You'll find the details down below.

Tour dates:

01/24 Brooklyn, NY - Saint Vitus
04/11 Philadelphia, PA - Theater of Living Arts *
04/13 Boston, MA - Royale *
04/17 Seattle, WA - Neumos *

* with Godflesh
