Toronto duo PONY specialize in grungry, very '90s alt-pop — and new single "Freezer" is a perfect example of them doing exactly what they do best.
Fans who have heard recent albums like 2023's Velveteen and 2021's TV Baby won't be surprised by how "Freezer" sounds — but it's maybe the best I've ever heard the band mix their sunny hooks with crunchy alt-rock guitars, making this the perfect soundtrack for hanging out on the quad in a late-'90s high school rom-com like Can't Hardly Wait, She's All That or 10 Things I Hate About You.
And yet, as much as this is absolutely impeccable '90s cosplay, melodies this good are timeless.
