Owen Pallett has composed music for a forthcoming film starring Nicolas Cage, set to make its world premiere at TIFF 2023 in September.
Pallett has written the score for Dream Scenario, a new comedy from director Kristoffer Borgli that Cage also co-produced alongside Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, Tyler Campellone and Jacob Jaffke.
Per a synopsis, Dream Scenario stars Cage as Paul Matthews, an academic and "hapless family man" whose life is upended upon millions of strangers suddenly seeing him in their dreams. Cage's character is then "forced to navigate his newfound stardom" when his dream state appearances "take a nightmarish turn."
Sooner or later, Cage may have to update his own definitive ranking of Nicolas Cage movies. Dream Scenario also stars Julianne Nicholson, Michael Cera, Tim Meadows, Dylan Gelula and Dylan Baker.
Dream Scenario will receive a wider release on November 10 via A24 following its September premiere at TIFF. The festival's complete schedule arrives tomorrow (August 15).
Pallett has recently collaborated with Jeremy Dutcher and Michael Peter Olsen. In 2020, the artist composed the soundtrack of Spaceship Earth, and in 2021, officially released the music for Spike Jonze's 2013 film Her, a collaboration with Arcade Fire.
