Noname is expected to release new album Sundial this year, and the Chicago artist has shared details of its first single.

Today, Noname revealed that Sundial's first single is titled "balloons," and will feature musical assists from Jay Electronica and Eryn Allen Kane.

The team-up with the elusive Jay Electronica has been years in the making. In 2020, Noname shared a recording of herself freestyling over his "Rough Love" beat, revealing in now-deleted tweets, "i write to jay elect beats when im bored."

"balloons" arrives a week from tomorrow on July 21, and you can see its artwork from Frank Dorrey above.

Noname announced Sundial in April of this year, initially sharing that the album would arrive this month in a now-deleted Instagram post.

While it has yet to receive a concrete release date, Sundial will mark Noname's first album since 2018's Room 25. That effort was due to be followed by a release titled Factory Baby, which the artist decided to scrap.

In the time since Room 25 — which was among Exclaim!'s Best Hip-Hop Albums of 2018 — Noname has shared a series of non-album singles, including "Song 31," "Häagen Dazs" as one third of Ghetto Sage, the Madlib-produced "Song 33" and "RAINFOREST."
