Chicago-based rapper/activist Noname has suggested that she's through with trying to finish her upcoming album Factory Baby, which she previewed earlier this year with lead single "RAINFOREST."

On Instagram yesterday (December 5), the artist born Fatimah Nyeema Warner explained that she doesn't "want to keep lying and saying there's an album on the way when there's not."

"Most days I'm not sure if I'll ever make music again," Warner wrote in a post to her Stories [via HotNewHipHop]. "The last time I was consistently making songs was four years ago. It's been so hard to find producers to link up with and who I genuinely connect with sonically. I'm truly grateful for the art I was able to release but that might be it from me."

She concluded: "I'm sorry I've [led] y'all on. I wanted to believe things would change but they haven't."

This isn't the first time Noname has taken a step back from the creative process, having announced in 2019 that she was considering quitting music due to her mostly white fanbase. "I refuse to keep making music and putting it online for free for people who won't support me," she said at the time. "If y'all don't wanna leave the crib I feel it. I don't want to dance on a stage for white people."

Her latest album was 2018's Room 25. Back in 2019, Noname teamed up with Saba and Smino as Ghetto Sage. Factory Baby was expected to arrive sometime this year.
