We at Exclaim! knew Nemahsis was a must-hear emerging artist long before the cultural arms of corporate behemoths came beckoning, and the Palestinian-Canadian's latest single makes it clear she's someone you'll want to have in your corner.
New arrival "i wanna be your right hand" comes complete with a music video directed by Norman Wong and Amy Gardner you can view below.
In it, Nemahsis is led through a dance by her own right hand, taking her from the back kitchen, to front of house.
A press release explains that both the song and video are inspired by acts of service — a love language best captured when Nemahsis sings, "A dime a dozen? / You, you're worth the compromises."
"I feel small in a relationship if I'm not put to use. I need you to need me," Nemahsis shares of her latest. "If I'm not helping cross off your to-do list then how am I a priority? Acts of service is the only way I can gauge my own self value. It's consuming, but it also happens to be my own love language. I scratch your back, you scratch mine."
Last year, Nemahsis released eleven archers, which landed among Exclaim!'s Best EPs of 2022.
