Chat Pile were one of Exclaim!'s favourite musical discoveries of 2022, and the noisy OKC outfit have confirmed the completion of a follow-up to debut album God's Country.
"Our new album is finished and has been sent off to mastering," the band announced on social media.
"Like usual, the new album was written and recorded by us in our humble practice space. This time around, we wisely handed off mixing duties to the almighty Ben Greenberg, who unquestionably took our sound to the next level — thanks Ben!"
A member of NYC industrial group Uniform, Greenberg's mixing credits include work on albums by Danny Elfman, Algiers, Black Marble, Ceremony, Pharmakon and more.
"We think that all the Chat Pile heads out there will love this shit," the band continued, hinting that album details could be closer than we think.
"We worked incredibly hard putting it together and we truly can't wait for you freaks to hear it (which unconfirmed rumour is will happen a little later this year through The Flenser).
"This album is very near and dear to our hearts and we hope it will be that way for you too."
God's Country, Chat Pile's debut LP, was named among Exclaim!'s 50 Best Albums of 2022. Album standout "Why" was named among Exclaim!'s Best Songs of 2022.
