After postponing tour plans with Crazy Horse last year in favour of his many archival film and album projects, Neil Young has teased an imminent return to the road in North America.
In a post on his Neil Young Archives website, the newly minted American citizen revealed that he was preparing to book the "Crazy Horse Barn Tour" based on past places they've visited on the continent.
"Many of the old places we used to play are gone now, replaced by new coliseums we have to book year[s] in advance and we don't want to go to anyway. That's not the way we like to play," Young wrote.
"It sounds way to[o] much like a real job if you have to book it and wait a year, so we have decided to play old arenas — not the new sports facilities put up by corporations for their sports teams. Largely soulless, these new buildings cost a fortune to play in."
Young then lists a number of shuttered "old arenas where we used to play," with Canadian highlights including Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens, Montreal's Forum and Ottawa's Civic Center.
He follows that with a list of venues that are still standing, which include Vancouver's PNE Coliseum, Hamilton's FirstOntario Centre (f.k.a. Copps Coliseum) and Toronto's Coca-Cola Coliseum (f.k.a. CNE Coliseum).
"If you are looking for us on our Crazy Horse Barn Tour, we will hopefully be in one of the existing arenas," Young concluded. "News coming pretty soon!"
One of Young's first archival projects set for release this year is his long-lost 1975 album Homegrown.
