Def Leppard's commercial success has undoubtedly led to lofty standards when it comes to life on the road, and after an unpleasant olfactory experience in Hamilton, ON, last year, the band may look to avoid FirstOntario Centre on future tours.

A recently rediscovered tour video dated July 20, 2019, gives a behind-the-scenes look at the band's setup for a concert in the Ontario city, complete with a look at their locker room-turned-backstage in the bowels of the aging arena.

Frontman Joe Elliott pulls no punches in setting the scene with his sense of smell. "This building is old, the underneath of this building fucking stinks, like a 10,000 asses stink," he says in opening the clip. "It's awful. Its fucking minging. However, it's going to be a sold-out gig so who cares?"

The video, which was shared Reddit's r/Hamilton community, has resurfaced in the midst of city council's continued debate on the future of FirstOntario Centre. The arena, formerly known as Copps Coliseum, first opened in 1985 and reportedly needs extensive repairs.

Of Elliott's comments, city councillor Sam Merulla joked to the CBC, "I guess they're getting old. I'm surprised they even notice the smells and stuff like that. Normally they'd just play the show and have a few rounds of whisky."

He continued: "We're just trying to make [the band] feel at home. They're looking to be pampered and they will be pampered in the near future once we redevelop the site."

Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett are set to support Mötley Crüe on their reunion tour later this year and have no Hamilton date scheduled at this point in time.
