Mitski's upcoming record is almost upon us, and she's set up a series of multimedia events for the occassion. On September 7 — just before the release of The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We on September 15 — the artist has arranged "music and film double features" at select theatres across the globe.

Fans in attendance will hear the new album in full, and then watch a screening of a film hand-picked by Mitski. A press release clarifies, "Please note — this is not a performance, and Mitski will not be in attendance." Across the various dates, Drugstore Cowboy, La Strada, Days of Heaven and Desert Hearts will be screened.

Canada has been left out of the run, but fans in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, London, Sydney, and Melbourne can check out the event. The night before the album's release, it will be played in full while images of the night sky are displayed at Cosmo Planetarium Shibuya in Tokyo.

Ahead of The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, Mitski has shared the singles "Bug Like an Angel," "Heaven" and "Star."
