Mitski Gets Celestial with New Songs "Heaven" and "Star"

The latest taste of 'The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We'

Mitski's back with new lyric videos for "Star" and "Heaven," the latest tastes of her upcoming seventh record The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We.

"Heaven" is a sweeping, string-laden love song that finds Mitski's voice trailing alongside ribbons of pedal steel — "Now I bend like a willow thinking of you / Like a murmuring brook curving about you / As I sip on the rest of the coffee you left / A kiss left of you /  Heaven, heaven, heaven," she sings. "Star" is a slow-building space odyssey, ending on a flurrying crescendo of twinkling keys. Both songs feature the full orchestra that Mitski worked with alongside conductor Drew Erickson.

The two new songs follow lead single and album opener "Bug Like an Angel." Alongside the new tracks, Mitski's also announced a short run of acoustic performances in Europe. Those dates are below.

The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We arrives September 15.
