Toronto noise-rockers METZ have released another single and music video from their forthcoming album, Atlas Vending.
The band describe the new song — titled "Blind Youth Industrial Park" — as "an ode to the naivety of youth, and the freedom of being unburdened by the world around you." The accompanying video was directed by Dylan Pharazyn and shot in New Zealand. The clip sees a woman desperately attempting to evade the armed soldiers hunting her, while dragging her injured companion along.
"I started thinking of the feeling of war or samurai films, beautiful but dark and violent," Pharazyn said of the visual effort in a statement. "I started to think of a more futuristic setting — more unusual and dream-like with the story set on a distant planet, where there is future technology and some kind of alien magic — like a futuristic fable."
"Blind Youth Industrial Park" is the third single released from METZ's upcoming album, following behind "Hail Taxi" and "A Boat to Drown In."
Atlas Vending is set to arrive on October 9 through Royal Mountain/Sub Pop. It will mark their first record since 2017's Strange Peace.
To celebrate the release of the record, the band also announced that they'll be hosting a livestream performance at Toronto's Opera House on October 15. The virtual show will air at 9 p.m. ET.
The band's Alex Edkins wrote of the upcoming event, "To all the people of the world who have come to our shows to dance, sweat and scream, we hope you can join us once again with this show."
