Torquil Campbell of Stars and Stephen Ramsay of Young Galaxy have shared a new single as TFD (TOTAL FUCKING DARKNESS). The duo's new project has been introduced with "The TFD," which you can hear in the player below.
On "The TFD," Campbell and Ramsay channel the spirit, synths and drum machines of late '80s British pop — think New Order or Pet Shop Boys. We'd be remiss not to mention how the thermal camera single art brings to mind the former group's Technique-era art direction.
In any case, the duo's debut single carries a simple message: "Death to fascists / Death to men / Death to politicians and the women who live with them." These feelings aren't presented without hope, however: "If there's nothing left to lose, it can't only get better."
Campbell and his Stars bandmates shared ninth studio LP From Capelton Hill earlier this year.
Young Galaxy, meanwhile, remain on indefinite hiatus following the 2018 release of LP Down Time and EP Snow Leopard. In the years since, Ramsay has released a pair of albums with new project Light Conductor alongside Jace Lasek of the Besnard Lakes.
