A warrant has been issued for Marilyn Manson for assault. Tonight the Gilford police department in New Hampshire issued an "active arrest warrant" for the musician over a 2019 incident involving a videographer.
On Tuesday (May 25), Gilford police issued a notice to the public that Marilyn Manson — born Brian Warner — is wanted on two counts of Class A misdemeanour simple assault.
"Mr. Warner, his Agent and legal counsel have been aware of the warrant for some time and no effort has been made by him to return to New Hampshire to answer the pending charges," the department said in a statement posted on Facebook.
According to police, the incident took place during a concert on August 18, 2019, at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion, where the alleged assault against the videographer occurred while in the photo pit.
"The videographer had been subcontracted by a NH-based company to video the concert, and had been located in the stage pit area when the alleged assaults occurred," the police statement reads.
If convicted on the charges, Warner could face a jail sentence of up to one year and a fine of up to $2,000 USD.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Manson's lawyer Howard King said the misdemeanour claim was pursued after the videographer asked for $35,000 USD for the effects on the camera equipment.
"It is no secret to anyone who has attended a Marilyn Manson concert that he likes to be provocative on stage, especially in front of a camera," King told the publication. "This misdemeanour claim was pursued after we received a demand from a venue videographer for more than $35,000 after a small amount of spit came into contact with their arm. After we asked for evidence of any alleged damages, we never received a reply."
King added: "This whole claim is ludicrous, but we remain committed to cooperating with authorities, as we have done throughout."
According to PEOPLE, multiple attendees at the concert — including a security guard — told the publication they saw Manson spit and "shoot his snot" at the female videographer.
"He was spitting everywhere and one time it got on her camera so she wiped it off and looked semi-irritated. He noticed this and kept purposely spitting on her camera," one attendee told PEOPLE. "I think her final straw is he got on the floor, got within 2-3 feet of her and hacked a giant snot rocket at her not the camera. She was pissed off and disgusted so she stormed off and he just laughed."
Last week, Manson was sued his former assistant, who alleges the musician subjected her to sexual harassment, abuse and battery. Another lawsuit was also recently filed against him by Game of Thrones star Esmé Bianco, while many more victims have come forward with tales of alleged abuse.
The FBI has reportedly launched an investigation into Manson, who has denied all claims of abuse and called them "horrible distortions of reality."
