Macy Gray

Live In Las Vegas

BY Ryan B. PatrickPublished Jun 1, 2006

While R&B/Pop singer Macy Gray may not be the talk of the town these days, surely she deserves better than this concert DVD recorded at the House of Blues in Las Vegas, 2004. Right from the low-grade, amateurish opening credits, cramped stage and garish set design, it’s obvious this recording was done on the cheap. The set list includes the usual suspects: "Hey Young World,” "Sexual Revolution,” "Sweet Baby” and, of course, "I Try.” Gray is as effervescent as ever, afro kicking like what, but it’s plain to see via her lack of chemistry with the audience that Gray’s going through the motions. The DVD contains no extras whatsoever and the overall sound and picture are less than optimal. This is for diehard fans only. (Nutech Digital)
