Because we can't have anything nice, Macy Gray has sat down with Piers Morgan to explain why she doesn't think trans women are real women.

In addition to reducing the definition of "woman" to "a human being with boobs ... and a vagina," the singer invoked notorious transphobe, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, defending her many, many diatribes against people simply trying to live their lives.

UPDATE (7/5, 3:52 p.m. ET): After receiving some online backlash about her comments, Gray has issued a statement to Billboard: "I have nothing but love for the LGBTQ+ and transgender community and have been a supporter since day one." She added: "My statement on Piers Morgan was grossly misunderstood. I don't hate anyone. I respect everyone's right to feel comfortable in their bodies and live their own truth." Interpret the comments below with that in mind.

"I don't think you should be called transphobic just because you don't agree. There is a lot of judgment and throwing stones at people for just saying what it is," Gray told the host, who was practically giddy at the prospect of having a guest willing to spew hate with him.

The singer went on to share that "the whole he/she/they" thing was getting "confusing," and that "just because you go change your parts doesn't make you a woman."

She continued: "Like, if you want me to call you a 'her,' I will. Because that's what you want. But that doesn't make you a woman just because I call you a 'her' and just because you got a surgery."

The rest of the interview is about as vile as you'd expect, so be warned before watching it in full below.
