London, ON's Thunder Queens are set to take the stage alongside nominees the Beaches at this year's Polaris Music Prize gala, but before that happens the New Faves alumni decided to drop a little gift.
Today they share a new cover of the Breeders' stone-cold classic "Cannonball," sticking true to the original's wonky grit while adding their own signature weight and surging harmonies.
A collaboration with producer Thom D'Arcy — who works with fellow Polaris nominees NOBRO — "Cannonball" was "an inspiring experience for the band, resulting in a recording process that was both smooth and creatively fulfilling."
"Thom's studio is a dream to work in," the trio said in a statement. "And everything came together in such a creative way."
