The official face of McDonald's Canada and foremost TikTokification-of-the-music-industry scholar are joining forces to, quite possibly, save the world — or at least release a collaborative album.
Rapper-turned-psych-rocker Lil Yachty and producer James Blake have joined forces to announce Bad Cameo, a new album set for release on June 28 through Quality Control Music / Motown Records / Republic Records. It follows their respective most recent solo records, the former having released Let's Start Here. — one of Exclaim!'s Best Albums of 2023 — and the latter, Playing Robots in Heaven, last year.
"This exciting fusion of talents brings together the eclectic styles of two of the music industry's most innovative artists, promising an album that will transcend genres and redefine musical boundaries," the press notes for Bad Cameo read.
The pair started teasing the collaboration back in February, with Lil Yachty posting a video on Instagram, where he's seen saying, "I think James has worked with a quite substantial amount of hip hop artists, but this project is so left for both of us."
Other details remain scarce, but you can pre-order the album here.
