Ladytron founding member Reuben Wu has ended his time with the UK synthpop outfit.

Announcing his departure on Twitter, the keyboardist, songwriter and producer cited growing commitments to his photography and art career in the United States. "The touring life introduced me to photography, a breadcrumb that would lead me in the direction of what came next," he wrote.

Ladytron's most recent album Time's Arrow was released in January. The band just wrapped up some UK tour dates in support of the record, and will play a handful of dates in the US later this year.

Read Wu's full statement below.

20 years ago I made the leap to leave my career in design to join a band I formed with friends on a world tour. Little did I know that decision would shape the rest of my life.

Together we travelled the world, released six studio albums, played hundreds of live shows, started nightclubs and made lifelong friendships. The touring life introduced me to photography, a breadcrumb that would lead me in the direction of what came next…

Due to my commitments to my photography and art career here in the USA, it is with sadness and fondness that I announce my departure from Ladytron.

I am so proud of the amazing body of work we created together and we will remain great friends. I wish Helen, Mira, Danny and Pete all the best with the new shows and huge thanks to Ladytron's loyal fanbase for all the support over the years.
