Kid Cudi is known for living outside his comfort zone. Now, the rapper has announced that he's spent the past year writing a comic book in secret: named for his hit Man on the Moon series of LPs, Moon Man Issue #1 will arrive on January 31.

Cudi announced the project at New York Comic Con this weekend, calling it "one of the top three coolest things" he's ever been involved with, and promising fans that the comic will be "unlike anything you've read before."

"I've been secretly working on this for over a year and its [sic] finally happening. I'm so fuckin hype for you all to dive in," he wrote on Instagram alongside exclusive Moon Man Slides. "If you're into comics, my hope is that this will be your new obsession."

Co-written by Kyle Higgins and featuring art by Marco Locati and Igor Monti, the story follows celebrity astronaut Ramon Townsend in the aftermath of a moon mission gone wrong.

Cudi has really spent the recent months expanding his catalogue across different mediums, first with the animated movie Entergalactic that accompanied his latest album of the same name. With the Moon Man comic arriving in January alongside his forthcoming album INSANO, it appears he's deliberately timing these new page and screen ventures to accompany his musical releases.
