Morgan Wallen bosom buddy and all-around good guy Drake has seemingly shown his support for Tory Lanez amid the Brampton rapper's 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
Taking to his soapbox (a.k.a. Instagram Story) today, Drizzy posted a black-and-white photo of Lanez captioned, "3 you." If posting a photo of Tory Lanez in a seemingly positive light wasn't already bad enough, if we decipher further, the number three certainly rhymes with the word "free." As Billboard points out, the numeral could also signify broken handcuffs — or he tried to do a heart emoticon and made a typo.
Last August, Lanez was sentenced to 10 years behind bars for shooting the rapper born Megan Pete in 2020 (despite a letter of recommendation from Iggy Azalea) after a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge found him guilty of three felony counts: first-degree assault, discharge of a firearm with gross negligence and having concealed an unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
In a statement following the ruling, Lanez maintained his innocence and said that he "refuses to apologize." Although Drake and Lanez had beef (because of course) earlier in their careers, they settled their feud in 2017 when the latter made an appearance at the former's OVO Fest. The 6 God previously referenced his support for Lanez in the Megan The Stallion shooting case on the 2022 Her Loss track "Chico Loco" with a super tasteful bar suggesting that Pete "lie[d] about getting shots."
"Even some of my peers in the music industry piled on with memes, jokes and sneak disses, and completely ignored the fact that I could have lost my life," Pete wrote in a 2023 essay for Elle, adding that "people treated [her] trauma like a running joke."
Lanez is awaiting ruling for his latest appeal attempt. See a screenshot of Drake's Instagram Story below.
