BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jul 16, 2019

The 2019 Polaris Music Prize has unveiled the short list of 10 albums still in the running for this year's title of best Canadian album.

The list has been whittled down from the 40-album long list by a jury of journalists, broadcasters and bloggers. The albums making the 2019 Polaris short list include those by the likes of PUP, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Marie Davidson, Shad, Jessie Reyez and more.

Albums released by Canadian artists between May 1, 2018, and May 31, 2019, were eligible for consideration.

The grand prize winner will be decided by a grand jury of 11 during a gala ceremony on September 16 at the Carlu in Toronto. The artist behind the winning album will be awarded $50,000, while the nine other short listers will receive prizes of $3,000 each.
