Heat

"Sometimes"

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Dec 5, 2016

Montreal-based post-punks Heat are set to release their debut full-length Overnight early in the new year, but before 2017 arrives, you can have a first listen of album cut "Sometimes" right here.

More brash and energetic than the previously heard "Lush," Heat's latest cut features layers of shimmering six-strings alongside a steady rhythm section, atmospheric keys and vocalist Susil Sharma's raspy delivery, building towards some hypnotic lead work in the song's outro.

"We were heavily influenced by jangle pop guitarists like Johnny Marr and Roger McGuinn," the band said in a statement. "Through studio experimentation we incorporated some heavy '80s sounds too. Lots of big snares, subtle synths, and circular bass riffs."

Overnight is set to arrive on January 20 through the Hand/Topshelf/Rallye Records, with pre-orders for CD and vinyl editions available here. Read through the band's upcoming tour dates to hear "Sometimes" in the player below.
