Hear the Week's Best New Canadian Music: Mustafa, Fucked Up, Aqyila, the Halluci Nation

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished Jun 14, 2024

I never know how to start these things! Quick, give me something topical from the past week — how 'bout that storm last night (June 13), Ontario? Weather continues to weather, and Canadian musicians continue to bring the thunder with the week's best new Canadian music.

Mustafa pays tribute to a Gazan neighbourhood kid he grew up with in Regent Park on "Gaza Is Calling," and Fucked Up self-soothe with "Stimming" as they anticipate the release of their new album Another Day. Aqyila is, naturally, "Unbothered," while the Halluci Nation hear "Voices Through the Rubble" on their new collaboration with Saul Williams.

This week in album releases, we have a slate of shiny newness from Cola (The Gloss), Geoffroy, Jill Barber, Jim Cuddy and jev.

Elsewhere, Sydanie, Homeshake and Skinny Dyck continue to preview their upcoming projects with new singles, while KROY and Mo Kenney have announced new projects of their own. Alexisonfire are also set to unleash a live album recorded at 2022's inaugural Born & Raised Festival.

The forecast is calling for a heatwave from all the hot tracks on The Eh! List below, presented by Mary Brown's Chicken — all Canadian and proud of it!
