Frank Ocean Hints at New Album with Cryptic Photo

BY Josiah HughesPublished Apr 7, 2015

Long gone are the simple days where artists would announce an album and release date, then release that album on said release date. Instead, things are incredibly cryptic and keep us routinely on our toes. Odd Future crooner Frank Ocean has been quietly working on his followup to Channel Orange for some time, and now he's hinted that the album is complete.

The artist posted the above image on his Tumblr, including the caption "I got two versions. I got twoooo versions." He also shared the hashtags #ISSUEONE, #ALBUM3, #JULY2015 and #BOYSDONTCRY.

We're no hashtag experts, but it seems safe to deduce that the album will likely be called Boys Don't Cry and arrive in July. As for the "issue one" part and the fact that the photo includes a stack of magazines, we can't help but wonder if Ocean is bravely attempting to launch a new print publication in 2015.

UPDATE: A rep confirmed to Billboard that Ocean indeed has a new album, as well as a publication, coming out in July. However, no title was confirmed.

Either way, there's sure to be more Frank Ocean news shortly. As previously reported, his next album will likely include appearances from Hit-Boy, Rodney Jerkins and Lil B the Based God.
