Manitoba's annual Real Love Summer Fest is back for another lovestruck summer, and they're bringing some heavy hitters along for the ride. Running July 26-28 in Teulon, Manitoba, this year's fest is welcoming the likes of Babehoven, Jennifer Castle, Cola and more to join local legends (and exciting newcomers) like Jamboree, Hut Hut and Virgo Rising.
Featuring incredible music, killer food and a variety of artist installations and workshops, this year's fest promises more of the same — a beautiful weekend in a beautiful spot with some beautiful people.
Check out Exclaim!'s five must see acts at Real Love Summer Fest 2024 below.
Babehoven
Babehoven's intimate, playful and freewheeling slowcore-inspired folk is what Real Love is made for, and it'd be a big mistake to miss the duo's Friday night show. Bringing songs from this year's lovely Water's Here in You, the pair's performance is sure to enchant.
Jennifer Castle
Castle has been largely out of the spotlight for the past few years, which is why it was so exciting to receive "Blowing Kisses," the beautiful, swirling ballad that Castle contributed to The Bear's season three soundtrack. It's always worth seeing Castle perform, but her appearance at Real Love may come with the promise of more new music.
Jamboree
One of Winnipeg's most exciting upstart bands, Jamboree recently followed their 2022 sophomore album Life in the Dome with this year's Summerland, an expansion of their sound and deepening of their richly conceptual songwriting. The band's onstage interplay easily rivals their in-studio magic, and they're a sure bet for Friday night.
Hut Hut
Winnipeg legends and art-rock wizards Hut Hut haven't released new music since 2020's spasmodic, oddly beautiful Hut Hut Hut, so they're even more of a must see than they usually are — the potential for new tunes (or just some good oldies) shouldn't be discounted, and the band know how to put on a show. Hut hut hut hut!
Virgo Rising
Constantly evolving but always unmistakably themselves, newly minted hometown heroes Virgo Rising bring a spindly art-folk tension to their pensive rock songs, tackling the cosmos and life's minutiae in equal measure. They shared sophomore EP Vampyre Year in 2023 — don't miss your chance to hear "Nail Biter" live.
