Even Ryan Reynolds Don't Impress Shania Twain Much

He's alright

Shania Twain is famously difficult to impress. It turns out that fellow Canadian and People's Choice Icon Ryan Reynolds is no exception to the rule, despite being a superhero or whatever. As per Quentin Tarantino, Marvel actors aren't movie stars, anyway; maybe things will change if Reynolds ends up buying the Ottawa Senators?

At the People's Choice Awards last night (December 6), a rose-coloured Twain performed a medley of her hits (and notably made multiple bedazzled onstage costume changes, including removing her hat so Adele would recognize her), "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" and "That Don't Impress Me Much" among them. The latter provided ample opportunity for the country superstar to celebrate her twin honouree Reynolds with a little shoutout.

Swapping out the original homage to Brad Pitt in the lyrics, she spoke-sang, "Okay, so you're Ryan Reynolds," before launching into the well, iconic, chorus that raised many a standard — and an entire generation, really.

Reynolds, however, was definitely won over by Twain (and who wouldn't be?), writing on his Instagram Story, "This may be the best thing that's ever happened to me."

He was named People's Icon at the fan-voted awards, while the singer-songwriter was presented her Music Icon award by Billy Porter.

"I always miss my mother right now at these moments in life. She would have loved watching her little girl living this moment right now," Twain admitted during her acceptance speech. "But my fans, my friends, my team — you are the ones who really fill that space. Not my mother's space, but you're here with me and you're celebrating, we're celebrating together, and you've made me feel loved and special my whole working life. And I will always be grateful for that, thank you."

The capital-I icon also offered a word of advice: "Embrace your individuality and your crazy ideas. Just be brave. Let's remember, there is power in numbers, we are in this together, love is love, and when a door slams in your face, take a freaking run and leap at your door and kick it down! You won't regret it."

Let's fucking go, girls.

Twain's new album Queen of Me arrives in February and will be followed by a massive tour.
