Evan Rachel Wood has detailed the alleged "first crime committed against [her]" by musician and accused rapist Marilyn Manson on the set of the music video for his 2007 single "Heart-Shaped Glasses."
As previously reported, director Amy Berg's two-part documentary Phoenix Rising chronicling the actor's journey as a survivor and activist was added to the 2022 Sundance Film Festival lineup. Part 1 of the film had its premiere last night, shedding light on the harrowing abuse claims Wood has made against her ex — whom she met in 2006 when she was 18 years old and he was 38.

In Phoenix Rising, she revealed that during the previously-discussed "simulated sex scene" at the "Heart-Shaped Glasses" video shoot, Manson started "penetrating [her] for real."
Wood said she was fed absinthe on-set and was barely conscious enough to object to the musician's alleged advances. She played a character stylized as from the poster for the film adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov's classic 1955 novel Lolita, wherein a middle-aged man becomes infatuated with a 12-year-old girl.
The actor claims Manson gave her explicit instructions on how to describe the video to journalists. "I was supposed to tell people we had this great, romantic time and none of that was the truth," Wood said.
She continued [via Rolling Stone]:
It's nothing like I thought it was going to be. We're doing things that were not what was pitched to me. We had discussed a simulated sex scene, but once the cameras were rolling, he started penetrating me for real. I had never agreed to that…
It was complete chaos. I did not feel safe. No one was looking after me. It was a really traumatizing experience filming the video. I felt disgusting and that I had done something shameful and I could tell that the crew was uncomfortable and nobody knew what to do.
I was coerced into a commercial sex act under false pretences. That's when the first crime was committed against me. I was essentially raped on-camera.
At the end of last year, court documents relating to a custody battle with Wood's ex-husband Jamie Bell show that Wood also accused Manson of threatening her eight-year-old son alongside the allegations she initially lodged against the singer in February 2021.
Meanwhile, the musician has been steadfast in his denial of the claims, which he has referred to as "horrible distortions of reality." Manson has been accused of sexual assault, misconduct and rape by multiple women.
