Elf Power Announce 'Sunlight on the Moon' LP, Share New Song

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 16, 2013

Elephant 6 survivors Elf Power have been going strong for almost two decades now, and they are showing no signs of slowing down. Not only are the psych crew touring with Neutral Milk Hotel this fall, but they will release a new album called Sunlight on the Moon on October 1 through Darla/Orange Twin.

The album was recorded in a variety of locales, including the Glow Recording Studio in Athens, Gypsy Farm Studios, a theatre in rural Georgia, and frontman Andrew Rieger's home studio. Some of the tunes were reportedly recorded by Rieger as they were being written, with the other band members adding their own parts later.

According to a press release, "Sunlight on the Moon combines the scuzzy, sleazy recording qualities of their early lo-fi masterworks with their powerful live bombast, with experiments in Kraftwerk-styled/Eno-esque drum machine minimalism, into a seamless, perfectly flowing whole."

The crunchy pop-rocking title cut is streaming over at SoundCloud. That's the album cover above, while the tracklist is below.
