Donnie & Joe Emerson Share Their First New Songs in Over 30 Years

"Searching" and "Finally Found Someone" were recorded in 2013

Donnie & Joe Emerson, two brothers from Fruitland, WA, released a beautiful, gentle album way back in 1979 called Dreamin' Wild. Somehow, even on the strength of the timeless "Baby," the album never gained any traction and it faded into obscurity.

Eventually, however, thanks to Ariel Pink and Dâm-Funk covering "Baby" on 2012's Mature Themes, the duo's music was rediscovered, and Light in the Attic reissued Dreamin' Wild. The interest in the brothers' music continued to grow — last year, Casey Affleck and Walton Goggins played Donnie and Joe, respectively, in the biopic Dreamin' Wild.

Now, 30 years since they last released any genuinely new music, Donnie & Joe Emerson are back with two new tunes.

According to a press release, Bodos Band/Dap-Kings member Thomas Brenneck hosted the brothers for an impromptu Donnie & Joe Emerson session at his Dunham Studios in New York in the Summer of 2013. Donnie Emerson wrote two songs, "Searching" and "Finally Found Someone," and Brenneck recorded them.

Now, those two songs are coming out on a 7-inch from Light in the Attic. They're lovely! Check them out below.
