Toronto musician John O'Regan is known for his versatility, between his role in post-punk quartet Matters (formerly the D'Urbervilles) and as the mastermind of glam sensation Diamond Rings.
When we met up with him to record a song from the latter project, he melded the two personalities, performing "I'm Just Me" accompanied only by acoustic guitar, devoid of electronics, drums, costume and makeup. The slower rendition emphasizes O'Regan's rich baritone and lyrical message, praising individuality and being yourself.
Watch the performance below, and catch Diamond Rings touring throughout North America this summer, with many Canadian festival dates:
7/7 Ottawa, ON - Ottawa Blues Fest
7/8 Quebec City, QC - Festival d'ete de Quebec
7/19 Guelph, ON - Hillside
8/4 Montreal, QC - Osheaga
8/8-10 Squamish, BC - Squamish Valley Music Festival
9/14 Hamilton, ON - Supercrawl
