Two years is a mighty long time to wait for 20 minutes of characterless music. Although L.O.D. is not without its redeeming qualities (punchy production, catchy hooks and two fun, high-energy music videos), Desiigner's long-awaited followup to 2016's New English leaves much to be desired.
The EP holds nothing creative enough to suggest growth, no song infectious enough to top his breakthrough hit "Panda," and not enough of a story to support such an intimate title (L.O.D. stands for Life of Desiigner, but very little is revealed about the Brooklyn rapper's life on the seven-track effort).
It's not the worst music ever made, and Desiigner's happy-go-lucky disposition is hard to hate, but L.O.D. isn't good for much beyond one or two rounds of passive listening.
