Toronto dance-punk duo Death From Above 1979 are no strangers to making fans wait a long time for new music — after all, it took them 10 years to follow up their debut album You're a Woman, I'm a Machine with 2014's comeback The Physical World. They've since released a Live at Third Man Records album, though, and it looks as if even more new material is on the horizon.
UPDATE (6/6, 3:17 p.m. EDT): The band have now premiered a new single titled "Freeze Me" via MistaJam's BBC Radio 1 show. Speaking to the host, they also promised that their next studio album won't take another 10 years to arrive. Listen to the interview and brand new track below. Furthermore, the group are apparently ditching the "1979" from their name, with the band now simply being called Death From Above.
Sebastien Grainger and Jesse Keeler have unveiled a pair of new video trailers, teasing new music. The first arrived yesterday (June 5), while a subsequent "Part 2" just landed today (June 6).
Both video snippets feature new music, as well as black-and-white footage of the band in the studio, and you can check them out down below.
As NME points out, some lucky fans have already received copies of a new Death From Above 1979 single titled "Freeze Me," and have shared the wealth with social media followers.
Meanwhile, both teaser trailers from the band are hinting at a release date of June 9, which we're assuming is when the single will officially land. That's this Friday, so stay tuned to find out more and hopefully hear the new tune in its entirety.
