Charlottetown, PEI indie rock outfit the Danks are set to release their sophomore album GANK next week, but if you're eager to the new material, the wait is over.
The new record follows up the band's 2009 debut Are You Afraid of the Danks? and was recorded in Toronto's Kensington Market with Jeff McMurrich (Fucked Up, the Constantines, Owen Pallett) and Ian McGettigan (Stars, Sloan).
Managing to pack in 11 songs into 30 minutes, the band deliver short bursts of fuzzed-out indie rock throughout the album, but mix in some mellower and poppier numbers as well. A press release sums the Danks up as having the "detectable spirit of the Jesus and Mary Chain and the generational slackery of the Strokes."
GANK arrives on June 11 through Hidden Pony, but you can hit play below to check out the new tunes right now. The Danks also have a few tour dates coming up, and you can see the currently confirmed schedule below.
Tour dates:
6/13 Toronto, ON - The Hideout
6/21 Montreal, QC - Quai Des Brumes
9/13 Hamilton, ON - Supercrawl
