What is a Gorillaz show meant to look like anyway? It's a cartoon band playing IRL, so the possibilities are pretty endless — now including (but not limited to) co-writing antagonist Damon Albarn performing in a sparkly pink squid hat affixed with a photo of Danny DeVito's shining, smiling face.

At their concert in Alpharetta, GA, last night (October 19) as part of their first North American tour in four years, an attendee was somehow able to get this glorious cephalopod headwear to the bandleader, serendipitously timed for "Tomorrow Comes Today" — perhaps this is how we will evolve in years to come — from the band's 2001 self-titled debut album.

According to a Reddit comment, the hat had been procured at Six Flags, although we assume the DeVito has to be a DIY addition, by user @snowyoreo663 and her brother Kyle. They got the crowd to pass it up to Albarn, who proudly donned it as anyone ought to. The melodica is a nice touch, too — there's definitely something inherently DeVito-ian about that instrument.

If this occurrence confuses or excites you (or any combination of the two), you can check out a couple clips of the performance below.

Gorillaz's new album Cracker Island is due in February.
