CJ Wiley has delivered another new single. Following the arrival of "No One Like U" this past February, the artist has returned with "Cheap Therapy," which you can hear below alongside a Lauren Beatty-directed video.
Wiley shares in a statement that "Cheap Therapy" is about "the emotional labour that most feminized people tend to carry in relationships, romantic or otherwise," explaining, "It's inspired by a time when I was casually dating and not looking for anything serious, but noticed that people, usually men, would try and use me as their personal therapist."
In the accompanying video, Wiley arrives at Toronto's Rivoli to shoot some pool, making a perfect play for the pocket by the end of the clip.
"Cheap Therapy" was produced by Boy Golden, and was co-written with Hollerado's Nixon Boyd.
Exclaim! named Wiley one of Five Must-See Acts at Mariposa Folk Festival 2024.
