As K-pop sensations BTS continue their path of world domination, they've run into a brief roadblock due to a controversial T-shirt showing an atomic bomb alongside a celebration of Korea's liberation from Japan after the Second World War.

As the New York Times reports, the band were scheduled to perform on the Japanese television show Music Station but had their appearance cancelled after one of the group's members, Jimin, was photographed wearing a controversial T-shirt.

The shirt featured a mushroom cloud rising over the Japanese city of Nagasaki, along with the words "patriotism" and "Korea." Many saw it as a way of making light of Japan being bombed at the end of World War II.

"After we talked to the band's agency about the member's intention in wearing the T-shirt, we have regrettably decided to call off their performance at this time," a statement from Music Station read.

On their official site, BTS apologized for the cancellation but did not acknowledge the shirt.

BTS recently teamed up with Steve Aoki on the song "Waste It on Me," which you can stream below.
