BTS's youngest member Jung Kook made his solo debut with the release of record-breaking GOLDEN last week, and now, Apple Music 1 and Zane Lowe have released an in-depth interview where the musician discusses everything from the group's humble beginnings, the pressures of collaborating with other artists, the bond he has with BTS's fan base (the ARMY) and more.

Perhaps most notably, Jung Kook opens up about more honest and unfiltered lyricism for his solo debut — with being part of BTS for a decade, it was sometimes hard to feel a particular ownership over his music, he shared.

"Before I was performing as a part of a group and even if it was my solo work, it was mostly fan songs. But now it was an entire body of work I was working on my own and I really enjoyed that process," he told Lowe. With GOLDEN, Jung Kook joined his other bandmates in exploring their own creative projects through solo releases.

"It was so much fun to work abroad, side-by-side with a foreign producer. And after we finished each song, I felt a great sense of accomplishment. The process itself was really enjoyable," he shared in the interview.

Jungkook also discusses his evolving image as an artist since his debut, and exploring new ideas in his music — in particular, referencing his colossal single "SEVEN" and its explicit lyricism.

"This is a very important time for me. But as a young artist this would be the time for me to sing lyrics like that and I needed to change up my image a little. Honestly, even for me it was a challenge and I was concerned about the lyrics myself," he told Lowe.
