All seven members of K-pop group BTS have officially started the process of completing their mandatory military service as of today, according to a statement released by the band's record label BIGHIT Music.

"We would like to inform our fans that RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook have initiated the military enlistment process," the statement read.

The four members will be joining their bandmates Jin, Suga and J-Hope in serving in the military as per South Korean law that requires almost all able-bodied men in the country to complete 18 months of military service before the age of 28, which was amended when, in December 2020, the South Korean government passed a bill that allowed pop stars to postpone their mandatory military service until they turn 30.

The label stated that they will be sharing any updates on the band's military service "in due course," and also wrote: "We ask you for your continued love and support for RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook until they complete their military service and safely return. Our company will spare no effort in providing support for our artists."

According to the label, the group will resume their collaborative projects together in 2025.
