The wait is over: following the whirlwind success of the Oscar and Grammy-winning "What Was I Made For?" from Barbie, Billie Eilish has officially announced the forthcoming release of her third studio album.
HIT ME HARD AND SOFT arrives May 17 via Darkroom / Interscope Records. It follows 2021's Happier Than Ever and Eilish's star-making 2019 debut, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?
The product description for HIT ME HARD AND SOFT on the singer-songwriter's Canadian online store describes it as "her most daring body of work to date." (Notably, there's only one vinyl variant available in addition to the standard version at the time of this writing.) It was written, produced and recorded with Eilish's brother and sole collaborator, FINNEAS, in their hometown of Los Angeles.
Eilish has spent the last few days teasing new music on Instagram, including debuting a tattoo of the word "soft" on her hip. She shared in today's official announcement that there would be no advance singles, as the album is meant to be listened to front to back.
