Bike Thiefs 'Redline' (video)
Mississauga, ON-based grammar-flouting punks Bike Thiefs are gearing up to unleash a new EP titled These Things Happen All the Time, but before it lands, Exclaim! has got the video premiere for "Redline" off of the forthcoming release.
Raised on a musical diet of the Pixies, hip-hop and stoner rock, the band's members were latecomers to the punk rock preachings of Black Flag and Fugazi, but that "ass-backwards introduction" has led them to their current incarnation — that is to say, making music that's a "weird fusion of noise and hooks and lyrics about financial planning."
You can hear it for yourself on the latest single "Redline," which tackles the ever-tough topics of breaking up and growing up. "The song's about trying deal with a breakup like an adult, taking responsibility, and generally being less of a prick than when you were younger," the band explained in a statement.
As for the video, it features performance footage of the band spliced with a particularly grown-up gentleman going about his daily routine of tai chi, breakfast, the newspaper and a bit too much medication.
