Bedroom Artist Julie Ragbeer Has a Pop Tingz Endorsement and a Dream

If you've been doomscrolling on Twitter X this week, you have definitely heard about the newest pop sensation Julie Ragbeer, who rose to internet virality overnight. Having gone from 100 followers to over 9,000 and counting in just a matter of days, many artists yearn to have the same kind of overnight internet success as her. So, who is she?

On February 22, pop culture news account PopTingz promoted Ragbeer's debut album Perplex, much to the confusion and bewilderment of stan Twitter. Upon some internet sleuthing, it was discovered that Perplex was released in 2023 — featuring tracks such as "Older Guys" and the eye-catching "Fight Against Your Fleshy Lusts." Ragbeer's low streaming numbers made the endorsement from the Pop Tingz seem suspicious, and caused many X users to wonder if it was a paid promotion.

In an interview for a Substack newsletter, the 24-year-old musician revealed she began her music career at 19, and has released two EPs and one album. Additionally, Ragbeer has been posting to her YouTube account — which features music videos for her songs "Seeing Stars," "Fight Against Your Fleshy Lusts (Christmas Edition)," "Rejected," and "Older Guys" — since 2017. These homemade videos often see the singer lip-syncing along to her songs in her room or frolicking around in a park. The video for "Older Guys" also boasts some of Ragbeer's influences, as with the singer displaying copies of Lana Del Rey's Ultraviolence and Honeymoon. Her music is very reverb-heavy, and her vocals are almost completely smothered by the instrumentation.

Ragbeer's virality has caused her to trend multiple times on Twitter X, generating countless memes. Ragbeer has taken to her newfound fame, and has affectionately dubbed her fanbase the "Ragdolls." She is also capitalizing on her popularity, and is currently offering Cameo videos for a humble $20. Ragbeer’s services include birthday messages, advice, roasts, and even pep talks.

Ragbeer's music can be streamed on Spotify, where the singer-songwriter now boasts over 32,000 monthly listeners. She has a certain charm, and we look forward to seeing what is next in the new Internet pop music darling's future.
