Remix master Muneshine has re-spun cuts from the likes of Allie X, Busta Rhymes and Majid Jordan, but the latest artist he's set his sonically manipulative sights on is danceable Vancouver indie crew Bear Mountain.
The Canadian producer has taken the band's shimmering synth-pop jam "Give It Up" and decked it out. Midway through the track, the beat begins to twist into a swirl of echoing vocal snippets and looping electronics, sucking the listener in and making them want to dance.
"I first heard Muneshine about two years ago when we both submitted remixes for Portugal. the Man's 'Purple Yellow Red and Blue,'" Bear Mountain's Ian Bevis tells Exclaim! "His remix had this summery shine to it that I fell in love with. We were so happy with the remix he did for 'Give It Up,' he brought the same groovy summery vibe that we love for the track, but also some dance floor bass that the track begs for."
Muneshine also chimed in on the collaboration, adding: "I've been a big fan of Bear Mountain's since I first heard 'Two Step' a few years back. I'm always drawn to artists and groups that blur the borders between different genres of electronic music and I think Bear Mountain are a really great and unique example of that. I'm really excited to get the opportunity to put my own twist on one of their tracks!"
Bear Mountain's latest LP Badu arrives on September 9 through Last Gang Records, but you can give Muneshine's "Give It Up" remix a spin right now to get the good times going early.
